
Goce Uzunski
Traditional drum, tarabuka

He was born in 1974 in Delchevo, Republic of Macedonia. Primary school ends in the village of Trabotivishte, Republic of Macedonia. His love for music took him from the easternmost city in Macedonia to Skopje, where in 1988, he enrolled in the Music Ballet School Center “Ilija Nikolovski – Luj,” percussion instruments, in the class of Prof. Emil Klan. In 1992, he continued at the Faculty of Music in Skopje in the class of Prof. Emil Klan. In 1996 he graduated in the class of Prof. Zoran Spasovski with a grade of 10 and a special commendation cum laude.
At the age of two and a half, as a member of the folklore groups “Pijanec” and “Kopachka” managed by his father, Dimitar Uzunski, he started playing complex rhythms on the traditional drum. In the third year of high school, his talent was recognized. From 1990 to 1999, he was a part-time employee in the Macedonian Philharmonic. Since 1999, he has been a full-time percussionist, and since 2020, he has been a timpanist.
As a percussionist, he participated in several chamber ensembles, the Mladinksi orchestral Musical Youth of Macedonia, and various ensembles at the “Days of Macedonian Music” event.
In his many years of professional work experience, he has collaborated extensively with famous conductors and performers.
He has been in Synthesis since 1994, playing traditional drums and tarabuka. Together with the other members of the group, he composes and arranges. His task is to capture the weight of the Macedonian original music with all its irregular rhythms and syncopations, which are characteristic of it, through the sound of the traditional drum.
