Synthesis combines the roots of Macedonian folk music heritage with modern arrangements, utilizing a full range of original Macedonian instruments such as the kaval, gaida, zurla, tapan, tarabuka, and tambura.

The band was founded in 1994 with the aim of conducting deep research into the invaluable wealth of traditional music in Macedonia, and they made their first public appearance in 1995.

The name “Synthesis” was chosen to reflect the group’s concept, representing a fusion of traditional sounds with contemporary arrangements to create a musical synthesis.

Delving deep into the roots of Macedonian folk heritage, with great care for the essence of traditional compositions, the group has received widespread praise for breathing new life into the music scene.

Over the years, they have collaborated with renowned musicians and bands such as Bilja Krstić and the Bistrik Orchestra (Serbia), Hüsnü Şenlendirici (Turkey), Mauro Pagani (Italy), DJ Boza (Australia), Plavi Orkestar (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Toše Proeski, Vlatko Stefanovski, Naum Petreski, Chromatic Point (Macedonia), and also with philharmonic and symphony orchestras like the Macedonian Philharmonic, the Burgos Philharmonic in Salamanca, the National Opera of Vietnam, the National Philharmonic Orchestras of Almaty and Astana (Kazakhstan), and the Niš Philharmonic.

In recognition of Synthesis’ significant contribution to promoting Macedonian music and culture through numerous concerts worldwide (Japan, Israel, the USA, Italy, France, and many others), the Macedonian Chamber of Commerce declared the band an honorary ambassador of Macedonian culture in 2006. In 2008, they received the Award for Contribution to the Development of Cultural Tourism in Split, and that same year, they were honored with the Best Instrumental Group award by Toronto Exclusive Magazine, along with many other international accolades that are part of their legacy.

Synthesis continues to preserve and revive old, forgotten, and sometimes almost never-heard songs that are part of Macedonia’s rich musical heritage, which, like Macedonian culture, has a long and enduring tradition.
